ALTO Design
At Starbucks Dewata, the brand’s story is transformed into an immersive journey; one that invites guests to connect with the heart of Indonesian coffee culture at every step. The experience begins as visitors enter through a micro-plot of Arabica coffee trees, mirroring the typical smallholder farms of Indonesia, and are guided through the seed-to-cup process via a sequence of interactive spaces. From hands-on depulping and washing stations to a seedling nursery and tasting rooms, each area is designed to engage the senses and reveal a new chapter in the coffee’s journey. The architecture and interiors reflect a deliberate blend of modern design and Balinese craftsmanship. Locally made red bricks, shaped to evoke the waves of Bali’s beaches, combine with traditional weaving, wood carvings, and murals that honor both the island’s artistry and the farmers who make Indonesian coffee possible. Interactive media installations and digital walls further immerse visitors in the story, while the Reserve bar offers exclusive beverages crafted from locally sourced beans.

This is the first ever 'origin' store in the world. Paying homage to the Coffee Farmers in Indonesia, and creating a unique first-hand experience for customers to learn about coffee from seed to cup. Every transition within the sanctuary is thoughtfully orchestrated to foster curiosity, learning, and genuine connection—turning the store into a destination where the brand story is not just told, but lived. The result is a flagship that serves as a sanctuary for coffee, community, and discovery.
This reflects the approach we have at ALTO Design, where we strive to create retail environments built on meaning, not just aesthetics, where the brand story is not told, but lived.
